BATON ROUGE

Baton Rouge | Louisiana

Mom is from here and her parents lived here until her dad passed, so I've always been tied to this area.  In 2012, my ex-wife took a land development related job in BR that didn't work out, but she stayed and opened a salon that killed it immediately, so my ties to The Red Stick grew exponentially.

Tiger Stadium.  Gotta catch an LSU game.  Ideally Auburn @ LSU because that rivalry has produced some insane games, but the stupid NCAA took it away.  We play them in '26 & '28 as of now.  The tailgating is unmatched, and that's coming from an Auburn Alum.

*Walk On's.  Will be a zoo after a game, but it's a solid sports bar.

**Ivar's.  Legit.

Zippy's.  Solid taco shop.

*The Bulldog.  Solid sports bar.  In the same complex at Glo Beauty Bar [the original salon - but we sold it long ago].

Superior Grill.  Probably not as good as I think it is, but we'd go here when we would visit for Thanksgiving.  Bacon-wrapped shrimp were a cherished part of my youth.

California Pizza Kitchen.  Only because that was dinner for my grandparents every Monday night.

The Chimes.  Heard it's great.  It's all peanut oil, though, and I choose life.

Acme Oyster House.  Same reason as New Orleans.

Rouj Creole.  Stellar spot for legit bayou cuisine.

Gino's.  Excellent Italian spot.

Mr. Gatti's.  Holy shit there still a Mr. Gatti's!  In Franklin, Tennessee in the 90s we'd have after-game parties at our Mr. Gatti's.  They had the four-player TMNT arcade game.  Probably terrible, but also amazing.  And it's still alive in 2025!  Pizza buffet, baby girl!
Sugar & Bronze.  It's a salon.  Owned by one of our former employees and now friend & client - JART!  Send your ladies there for all the things and stuff.

There's more.  Haven't been in a while.  I'll update as I remember and/or visit again.
