NEW ORLEANS
New Orleans | Louisiana
This is my heart's second home. Got married there in 2012 [didn't last]. Something special about those swamps. You need no plans here, just lodging and waddle. Everything is good. If it feels like you should go in, go in. Thousands of things to recommend here. Make it your own!
Mother's. The best in the biz, I'm told. Peanut oil, so I'd die. HILARIOUS that Mother's catered the wedding party reception after the ceremony at my own wedding.
**Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop. The one you go to. East end of Bourbon, so watch your back [for multiple reasons]
*The Boondock Saint. Go see my friend Lacy behind the bar.
SoBou. Excellent upscale dining! Had our rehearsal dinner there.
Atchafalaya. Funny name. Incredible food.
Café Du Monde. Once, but you gotta.
Acme Oyster House. Again, once, but you gotta.
Southern Oaks Plantation. If you're planning to get married in NOLA, this is a solid option. We did an 88-course passed apps instead of a sit-down. People still talk about how good the food was. And the whole long weekend.
Carousel Bar @ Hotel Monteleone. A must. It spins at like 1mph. See if you can get so drunk that you fall off of it like my friend Christopher.
The bar @ Le Pavilion. Gorgeous hotel. Worth a stop-in.
St. Roch's Market. One of my favorite spots on Earf.
Creole Gardens B&B. My friend Keith runs it. Or at least he did. Drop my name if you want to book there. Got some good spots in the vicinity, too.
